what do you need to make it?
the following quantities will make enough egg fried rice for two people, or one hungry person.
- 1 pack (250 grams) of cooked long grain rice. this can be instant rice, or you could cook the rice yourself. we use instant rice because it really minimises the spoons.
- 3 eggs.
- approximately 250 grams of frozen vegetable mix. it can contain whichever vegetables you like.
- one golden curry mix-in block (approximately 20-25 grams). choose whichever spiciness level you prefer.
- water from the tap.
- a small amount of vegetable oil.
- as much ground black pepper as you think is appropriate. this is optional.
- whatever garnish you like. we recommend sesame seeds. this is also optional.
how do you make it?
- make sure your rice is cooked. if you are using instant rice, you don't really have to do anything.
- add a small amount of oil to a large frying pan and turn the heat on to medium-high.
- crack the eggs into the frying pan and stir them with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- add approximately 250 grams (a few handfuls) of frozen vegetable mix to the frying pan and mix it up with the eggs.
- wait about a minute until the vegetables are defrosted. it doesn't really matter how long you wait (as long as nothing burns), the important thing is that you don't do the next step instantly after the previous step.
- move everything in the pan to one half of the pan, and pour some tap water into a small bowl. we could not tell you how much water to use, because we eyeball it every time. the water will be used to make curry sauce, so get a little more than you'd like there to be sauce (because some will evaporate).
- pour the water into the empty side of the pan and add the golden curry mix-in block.
- wait until the curry block dissolves and makes a sauce. you will have to stir it a few times while it's dissolving to make sure the sauce isn't lumpy.
- pour the rice into the sauce and mix it up with the sauce. then, mix the two halves of the pan together. the rice should absorb the sauce, and the food should be neither wet nor dry - if it's a bit too saucy, then let it cook a minute or two longer before turning off the heat.
- it's done! portion everything into plate(s) or bowl(s). sprinkle some black pepper and/or sesame seeds on top if you want!
- enjoy eating the meal of champions!
